Possibility – a blank draft on Windows Live Writer editor.
A very vast possibility of ideas can be written on a blank draft. You may jot down whatever you have in mind, and post it in whatever form you like. May it be a poem, or portrait, or video.
In this case, I have several possibilities to shoot for my entry on the weekly photo challenge. And some wilder ideas too… But, can not decide which picture I should post. Some thoughts I had in mind are:
- A screenshot of minesweeper game. Possibility of which squares conceal mines.
- A photo of a pair of rolling dice. Possibilty of generating very random integer.
- A spinning coin. Possibility of it would fall on which side.
- The back side of a deck of shuffled cards.
- Dark clouds. Possibility of rain fall.
- Three cups, upside down, on a table. Which cup conceals a ball?
- Eggs on a bird’s nest. Possibility of life (or omelette).
- A sprout of a plant from a seed.
- A pair of wedding rings and a calendar, photographed in one frame.
- And of course the blank draft itself, hehe.

Comfort, to most photographers, is to know that he always has his favourite gear in hand. Whenever and wherever he goes, a camera is always there, ready to shoot.
Couple of days ago, I realized that my camera’s dial button failed to perform. So I immediately went back to the store to have the dial button repaired. I tought it was going to be approximately a week without camera. That’s OK lah, I think I can spend a week without DSLR – time to exploit phone camera for fun.
But to my surprise, the technician said the camera must stay in service centre for about a month. One full month. Whaaatt?!
I can’t stand a full month without camera. I need a descent equipment to visually freeze an important event by the end of this October.
Anyway, this is a pic of my EMPTY camera bag:

Comfort – NOT.

Sunset. Given a photograph of sun near the horizon, can you differ sunset from sunrise without reading the caption? The challenge for photographer is to present a picture of sunset – and without words, the viewer must know it is sunset, not sunrise.

Sunset – my friends Yuni and Samsoel appreciating sunset in their own ways.
Yuni was busy freezing the golden moment with her camera, while Samsoel prefered to enjoy the warmth on his face.

I did not have time to go photo hunting this week. I did not have any “fall” to shoot. I had no ideas. But anyway, the image fell from nearby table. So this is it…

Fall – from a nearby table. A bottle of drinking water.

If you think your sunday morning is boring, don’t hesitate to leave the house! Go to Taman Bungkul, and be prepared to have fun. These pics were captured during the “car free day”, on darmo avenue every sunday morning… (click to enlarge)

Faces – of old and new bikers, and their bikes.

Focus – boy in his red bull shirt, playing football.

Curious – Man selling arumanis, wonders whether I’m using Canon or Nikon, haha.

Textured – surface of a steering wheel.
It is ideal to shoot textures with wide aperture of prime lenses. But, when prime lens is not available, kit will do lah… This was shot at F/5.6.

Mount Bromo is an active volcano and part of the Tengger massif, in East Java, Indonesia. At 2,329 metres it is not the highest peak of the massif, but is the most well known. The massif area is one of the most visited tourist attractions in East Java, Indonesia. The volcano belongs to the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park.
Mount Bromo is easily recognized as the entire top has been blown off and the crater inside constantly belches white sulphurous smoke. It sits inside the massive Tengger caldera (diameter approximately 10 km), surrounded by the Lautan Pasir (Sea of Sand) of fine volcanic sand. The overall effect is unsettlingly unearthly, especially when compared to the lush green valleys all around the caldera.

During this year lebaran holiday, I had a chance to take Vicky to visit Bromo with our fellow bloggers Angki and Risdania.
How to get there from Surabaya?

Path – at the tip of Mount Tengger’s caldera.
Volcanic ash from Mount Bromo’s eruption in December – January covered the whole Tengger highlands. Many paths are no longer visible. Hiking on those paths has become more challenging since the sands are very soft and thick.
Today, Mount Bromo has been declared safe for tourist to visit. But I must say, you should wait until next year, with a hope that the hotels/resorts will be able to provide clean accomodations and facilities.
